25 - Pancake Rocks (Punakaiki)

🌿 About this place

Punakaiki is one of the most unique coastal landscapes in New Zealand. The area is famous for its Pancake Rocks, layered limestone formations that look like stacks of pancakes, shaped over millions of years by pressure, water and wind.

Located on the wild West Coast, this region reflects the raw power of nature, where the Tasman Sea crashes against the rocks creating dramatic blowholes and ocean spray.

For Māori, this coastline is part of Te Tai Poutini, a region rich in natural resources and cultural significance.
