23 - Mount Cook (Aoraki)
🌿 About this place
Aoraki is the highest mountain in New Zealand and one of the most sacred places in Māori culture. According to legend, Aoraki was an ancestor who, along with his brothers, was turned to stone, forming the Southern Alps (Kā Tiritiri o te Moana).
The region is part of a national park filled with glaciers, alpine landscapes and extreme natural beauty. It is also within a Dark Sky Reserve, making it one of the best places in the world for both mountain scenery and stargazing.
This is where New Zealand feels truly wild and untouched.
